This is an action brought by the appellant to recover for personal injuries sustained while she was riding as a passenger
in the appellee's car. At the conclusion of the plaintiff's proof the trial court directed a verdict for the defendant. The
question is whether the plaintiff made a case for the jury. During the 1953-1954 school year Miss Brand was living in Clarksville but was employed as a school teacher at Oark, in the
northern part of the county. Miss Brand, the defendant Rorke, and a third teacher made an arrangement by which the two men
alternated in driving [225 Ark Page 310] their cars from Clarksville to Oark. It was decided that the operating expense
of a car was $42 a month; so Miss Brand contributed her share by making a monthly payment of $7 to each of the two car owners.
